Job Purpose

The Commercial Business Analyst will be responsible for working cross-functionally with the product strategy, commercial, customer success and engineering teams to analyze proposed products and services, and build business cases for a wide range of Mining Technology Solutions products and services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Business plans and business cases

  • Create business plans, business cases for a wide variety of products and services to be commercialized
  • Create business proposals for internal projects
  • Work with diverse colleagues and stakeholders, including product strategy, engineering, finance, sales & marketing, customer success, and autonomous teams, to gain an in-depth understanding of critical business and product requirements 

Analytics

  • Use sales data to analyze trends in products, features, or services and apply those trends to develop return on investment scenarios
  • Present findings and suggestions to product managers, sales directors, company directors or other senior managers, influence roadmaps and sales strategies

Competitive/Customer Intel

  • Participate in Voice of Customer (VOC) workshops
  • Market research for proposed new products and services
  • Analyze existing competitors' products and services

Required Skills

  • Bachelors degree in business or related field. 
  • Experience creating business plans
  • Business acumen, financial literacy, and an understanding of business trends
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Ability to interpret insights from data, having strong analytical skills, and an ability to balance data driven and user-provided feedback
  • Proactive self-starter and highly capable of independent work
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to manage and leverage relationships with internal and external partners
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities

Desired Skills

  • Experience with, and understanding of, best commercial practices of technology companies, including current commercial trends, product positioning and product life cycles
  • An understanding of strategies for business growth, as well as standard KPIs
  • Experience in financial, economic and statistical analysis and/or modeling
  • Familiarity with partnering with diverse teams, including finance, engineering and product strategy
  • Previous experience in mining or technology industries
