Job Purpose
Komatsu Mining Technology Solution’s Engineering team is responsible for crafting innovative solutions for some of the work’s largest mobile mining equipment. Working with our partners around the world, you can help build the next generation of technology & platforms that will deliver sustainable changes in the mining industry for generations to come.
We are looking for an adventurous Software Manager who seeks to leave a mark in an industry. You will build an engineering Team from the ground-up, supported by Komatsu’s wealth of industry experience, people, and process. This team will build the machine Guidance services and components to support manned and automated equipment on our Intellimine Synergy platform, starting with the Dozer.
Key to this role will be excellent interpersonal skills as you will be required to negotiate, consult, and motivate stakeholders and colleagues to drive successful outcomes. The position is based in Milton, Brisbane Australia and flexible work arrangements are available.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with HR and your Director to build the Team during the initial ramp up phase of the Project.
- Work with key stakeholders to capture requirements, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Ensures that the team has appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver objectives effectively.
- Maintain realistic estimates of timelines to ensure that projects remain on target to meet deadlines.
- Helps developers resolve technical issues through effective roadblock removal or escalation.
- Ensure established reporting is delivered on-time and with detail that informs the business
- Utilize objectives, KPIs and Performance Metrics to measure and improve the performance of the teams.
- Embrace, promote and instill the agile methodology within the team.
- Assumes leadership to promote a Quality culture in line with the framework set by the Quality Department.
- Manages budget for internal staff and contractors.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering
- Extensive experience in managing/leading a software development team
- Experience in analyzing business requirements, recommending technical solutions, and writing technical specifications and/or requirements
- Capable driving strategic initiatives from ideation and planning through execution to delivery
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and Quality Management Systems and Techniques
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in managing geographically distributed teams
- Demonstrate ability to work as a team member and hold one another accountable for the commitments made to the business
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong hands-on management capabilities, coaching, and people management
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of high-performance spatial data structures and algorithms (GIS).
- Distributed and OS agnostic computing technologies including Docker.
- Cloud deployment and hosting technologies.
- Microsoft DevOps, GIT.
- Kotlin, Java, Typescript, REACT, SQL.
- Geospatial data modeling and management.
