Job Purpose

Komatsu Mining Technology Solution’s Engineering teams are responsible for crafting innovative solutions for some of the world’s largest mobile mining equipment. Working with our partners around the globe, you can help build the next generation of technology & platforms that will deliver sustainable changes in the mining industry for generations to come. 

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to help us define and implement key domain services for our next generation of geospatial solutions. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will work in a hand selected engineering group, supported by Komatsu’s wealth of industry experience, people, and process. This team will build the machine Guidance services and components to support manned and automated equipment on our Intellimine Synergy platform, starting with the Dozer.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyse and clarify business and user requirements from project stakeholders, achieving consensus on acceptance criteria 

  • Work with Architecture to align top-level architecture views of system structures and behaviors with relationships to subsystems and components 

  • Conduct systems engineering analysis including solution concept generation, functional analysis, risk analysis, impact analysis, trade studies, and failure mode analysis 

  • Define and communicate comprehensive system solution descriptions to development team members including: the role subsystems play within the overall system, the boundaries and interfaces of system elements, the required capabilities and behaviors, and the interaction with multiple user roles 

  • Coordinate changes in system components, maintaining consistency throughout system requirements in coordination with architecture 

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Engineering degree

  • Practical experience in Systems Engineering including experience with design, development and testing of software systems. 

  • Expertise in documenting system requirements, system structural and behavioral architectures, and maintaining accurate traceability across artifacts. 

  • Experience recognising changes to business and user needs and system success criteria, documenting the changes for stakeholders to review and make decisions. 

  • Strong presentation and collaboration skills. 

Desired Skills

  • Understanding of distributed and OS agnostic computing technologies including Docker. 

  • Cloud deployment and hosting technologies. 

  • Microsoft DevOps, GIT. 

  • Agile project delivery style. 

  • Geospatial data modeling and management. 

  • Experience with planning software packages such as Aha!, Microsoft DevOps, or relevant equivalents.
