Covid-19: Guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting Modular Mining’s PTX & MasterLink Mobile Hardware Components

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend daily cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces to help protect against the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

To help our customers comply with WHO and CDC guidelines, Modular Mining has developed the following procedures (based on manufacturer documentation) for cleaning and disinfecting PTX and MasterLink mobile hardware.

Applicable hardware:

  • PTX-B mobile devices
  • PTX-C mobile devices
  • MasterLink hub, HiRes screen, and LCGC screen

IMPORTANT: Take care to avoid wiping or introducing moisture to the inside of the cannon Amphenol MIL Connector plug, harness connectors, or other connectors or internal surfaces.

To clean the exterior of “Applicable hardware” devices referenced above:

1. Ensure your mobile device is fully powered off.

2. Using clean, glove-covered fingers or a clean, dry cloth, gently remove any loose contaminants from the device surface. Avoid scrubbing or applying pressure, as this may damage the touchscreen.

3. Apply a small amount of neutral glass-cleaning agent*, such as ammonia-free Windex Glass Cleaner, to a clean, slightly-damp (not dripping wet), cloth.

*NOTE: Do not use cleaning agents that contain ammonia, sulfur, chlorine, bezene, thinner, acidic/alkaline solutions or abrasives. Failure to comply could lead to device and/or touchscreen damage.

4. Use the prepared cloth to gently and thoroughly wipe down the device surface. Do not apply the cleaning agent directly to any part of the device. Avoid scrubbing or applying pressure, as this may damage the touchscreen.

5. Gently wipe the surface until the glass-cleaning agent evaporates; do not leave wet patches on the surface.

To disinfect the exterior of “Applicable hardware” devices referenced above:

1. Ensure your mobile device is fully powered off.

2. Using clean, glove-covered fingers, apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol** (isopropanol) to a clean paper towel. The paper towel should be slightly-damp, not wet.

**NOTE: Ensure an alcohol concentration of 70% minimum. Do not use cleaning agents that contain ammonia, sulfur, chlorine, bezene, thinner, acidic/alkaline solutions or abrasives. Failure to comply could lead to device and/or touchscreen damage.

3. Use the prepared paper towel to gently and thoroughly wipe down the device surface. Avoid scrubbing or applying pressure, as this may damage the touchscreen.

4. Gently wipe the surface until the isopropyl alcohol evaporates; do not leave wet patches on the surface.
